Charles J. Kibert is co-founder and President of the Cross Creek Initiative, a non-profit industry/university joint venture seeking to implement sustainability principles into construction. He is a board member of the Green Building Initiative, Inc., a non-profit with an alternative building assessment approach known as Green Globes.
He teaches courses on sustainability and green building in the University of Florida and supervises doctoral candidates specializing in sustainable construction. He also develops and teaches courses on green building to building industry professionals in the US and internationally. He is the author of Sustainable Construction: Green Building Design and Construction and co-author of Working toward Sustainability: Ethical Decision Making in a Technological World.
Charles holds a B.S. (General Engineering) from the U.S. Military Academy, a M.S. (Nuclear Engineering) from Carnegie-Mellon University, and a Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of South Florida. He is a registered professional engineer in Florida, a Green Globes Assessor (GGA) and a USGBC LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Ross B. Shuster
President, International, United Technologies Climate, Controls & Security
Ross has over 25 years of business and industry experience and joined United Technologies in 2007. Prior to his current role Ross held a number of progressively more senior leadership roles within Asia for United Technologies including providing leadership and management for its Carrier, Chubb and Otis businesses.
Ross is also on the board of directors of Beijer Ref, a technology-oriented publically traded company based in Sweden, operating in refrigeration and air conditioning.
In 2012, Ross was presented with the Magnolia Award from the Shanghai Municipal Government, the highest award bestowed by the City on foreigners who have contributed significantly to Shanghai’s economic, social and community development.
Ross holds a Master in Business Administration degree with a focus on International Business from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.

Terry McCallion is the Director of the EBRD Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Team in the Banking Department, based in London. He previously was a banker in the EBRD’s Financial Institutions Team working on transactions with banks, insurance companies and mortgage finance clients. Prior to joining the EBRD, Terry was Finance Manager at MMT, an environmental technology business in the United States. He started his career as an engineer in the oil and gas business with Bechtel before attending business school and moving into banking and finance. He has B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Queens University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Senior Partner, Foster + Partners
Piers leads Foster + Partners’ Environmental Engineering team and provides strategic and design support across all projects. He studied energy engineering at Southbank University. In 2005 he founded PHA Consult, pioneering a fresh approach to environmental engineering and sustainable design.
From the late 1990s he collaborated on a variety of Foster + Partners projects, including masterplans, offices, educational buildings and arts spaces. In 2011, he joined the practice as a senior partner to lead the Environmental Engineering team. He has devised environmental strategies for projects around the world, including Smithsonian Institution, the Masdar Institute, Spaceport America and arts buildings, such as Zénith in St-Étienne and the Winspear Opera House in Dallas.

A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Anna started her career as an interior designer. She has been connected with the construction industry for more than 20 years. Continuously expanding her knowledge, she completed, among others, postgraduate studies in conservation of vintage buildings, and management, as well as managerial courses and coaching training.
For several years now, in a dedicated region, Anna has supported the team of Armstrong’s advisers, as well as developers, architects and construction companies carrying out the largest public investments in matters concerning the design, acoustics and technical aspects. Sustainability & Product Regulatory Affairs Director, Knauf Insulation
Industrial Engineer from Gramme Institute in Liège (B), he has held several leadership positions in the manufacturing and technical marketing for Knauf and previously Owens Corning. Since almost 15 years, he has actively worked with the EU Association of Insulation Manufacturers, Eurima, focusing on the energy performance policies (EPBD) and then sustainable buildings.
In his function, now, he is member of the Central Marketing team of Knauf Insulation with overall responsibility on the sustainability related to products and buildings; he is also in charge with his team of regulatory compliance and the coordination of the standardization work at Knauf Insulation. He is chairing the Sustainable Construction Committee of Eurima and representing Knauf Insulation in the European Regional Network of Green Building Council.
Vincent Briard has been actively involved in several EU initiatives working with stakeholders from across the EU to support the transition to more sustainable built environment.
Global Head, Strategy and Business Development, IFC Climate Business Department, World Bank Group
Marcene D. Broadwater has over 25 years of international finance experience. She is responsible for growing IFC’s investments in sustainable business with an emphasis on renewable power, industrial energy efficiency, green buildings, urban infrastructure, climate-smart agriculture and bio-energy.
Ms Broadwater is currently heading IFC’s initiatives to transform green building practices in developing markets, expand clean energy investments beyond the power grid, and aggregate energy efficiency investments for institutional investors. She sits on the Steering Committee for the UN Sustainable Energy for All Build Efficiency Accelerator and on the Renewable Energy Committee of the World Business Council on Sustainable Development and is as well a member of the Women’s Council on Energy and the Environment.
Before joining IFC, Ms. Broadwater was a Finance Manager with the Amoco Corporation. Ms. Broadwater holds a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Brown University.
Head of Standards, Climate Bonds Initiative
A strategy specialist, Anna has significant experience advising on green growth and low carbon development. For the last 8 years, she has advised on national and international policy development, and mechanisms to engage the private sector in sustainable land use. Anna began her career in the private sector, working in consultancy and then in industry, developing company strategies based on economic analyses and market modelling.
As Head of Standards at Climate Bonds Initiative, Anna is responsible for the “green definitions” development, used to determine eligibility for Certified Climate Bonds. She works with science and finance experts, bond issuers and investors, governments and regulators to ensure alignment of green definitions and taxonomies globally. She holds an MSc in Economics and a BSc in Economics & Philosophy, both from the London School of Economics and has qualified as an accountant with the ACCA.
Craig Davies, Ph.D.
Associate Director – Head of Climate Resilience Investments, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
Dr Craig Davies leads EBRD’s work on mainstreaming climate resilience into EBRD’s investment operations in emerging economies across Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey and the Southern & Eastern Mediterranean.
Dr Davies has a particular interest in climate change impacts on emerging economies and in the integration of climate resilience into investment planning across a wide range of sectors, including various types of infrastructure (energy, transport, urban and water), agriculture, manufacturing and extractive industries, and financial services. Over the past decade he has worked closely with the major international climate finance mechanisms such as the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Dr Davies joined EBRD in 2006 having previously worked at the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID). He holds a PhD in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London (2001).
European Regional Director, WorldGBC
James oversees the network of 24 national Green Building Councils across Europe; coordinating their work on projects, education, policy and relationships with regional partner organisations.
A large part of his role is advising on and coordinating global and European political engagements in the green building arena, recently including UNEP’s 10 Year Framework Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production, UNFCCC Technical Experts Meetings and the European Commission’s Resource Efficient Buildings project. He co-leads WorldGBC’s flagship EU Horizon 2020 project ‘BUILD UPON’, and is also coordinating the energy efficiency committee within the Horizon 2020 ‘EeMAP’ project.
He has a Masters from the University of Cambridge, and a background in corporate and finance law. Previously an associate with the Environment and Climate Change practice of global law firm Linklaters LLP. He also previously worked for the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Marcin Gawroński, Ph.D.

Marcin Gawroński, PhD is currently a Head of BREEAM/LEED team in Sweco Consulting. He is a practitioner with over seven years experience. He was responsible for certification of first projects in Poland which received the EXCELLENT rating, both for new and existing developments. He is an author of several publications from the field of green certificates. The BREEAM / LEED team at Sweco Consulting (formerly Grontmij Polska) has so far finalized certification of 83 new buildings and over 115 of existing ones. Sweco consultants cooperated with BRE on the preparation and testing of the BREEAM In-Use certification scheme for existing buildings.

Alex has an engineering background and experience related to construction and development process, research, engineering and design as well as financial services all in the built environment. He works for EBRD since 2008 on sustainable resource investments in built environment projects, financed by the Bank across the EBRD region. That includes direct lending projects from Property&Tourism (commercial assets, hotels, residential developments), Agribusiness (retail chains), Manufacturing&Services (logistic centers), Transport (Airport infrastructure).
Alex participates in development of new financing instruments and products related to climate financing and sustainable resource investments in the building sector: project financing, dedicated financing instruments through financial and non-financial intermediatries, demand-side utility programs, sustainable retail, sustainable property funds, etc.
Director, ESG & Real Estate, GRESB
Roxana Isaiu is leading the development and execution of all products and services within the Real Estate business.
She is responsible for the content and implementation of the annual Real Estate Assessments and manages a team to support stakeholder engagement across industry bodies.
Since she joined GRESB more than five years ago, Roxana has been supporting real estate property companies and funds in translating their sustainability efforts into GRESB reporting and driving continuous improvement programs focused on data quality.

Vlaho is a seasoned banker and a real estate executive with more than 15 years of experience in the sector. Vlaho is responsible for the MENA and SEE regions in EBRD’s Property and Tourism Team where he works as an Associate Director for the past six years. Before joining EBRD, Vlaho worked as a Development Director with the Trigranit Development Corporation, the biggest real estate developer in Central and Southeast Europe. He started his career in investment banking with BNP Paribas in London.
Vlaho holds MBA from Imperial College, University of London, and an executive education from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Paweł has over 17 year experience in banking. During his long professional career Pawel has been managing, inter alia, numerous funding projects both for Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. as well as for subsidiaries of BZ WBK Group. Josefina Lindblom, Ph.D.

Josefina is working at the European Commission for DG Environment, in the unit of Sustainable Production, Products and Consumption. She is responsible for the work on “sustainable buildings” and the implementation of the communication on this topic adopted in summer 2014. She has previously worked in DG Research with specific support to SMEs and in DG Joint Research Centre, where she took part in research studies related to improved environmental performance of industry and how to design policy in this respect. She has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Design from Chalmers Technical University of Gothenburg.

Wojciech is a Member of the Management Board and Senior Managing Director responsible for development projects of Hines in Poland. In the years 2001-2006, Wojciech played a key role in development and disposition of the Metropolitan project. Subsequently, Mr. Rumian was in charge of multiple office and residential developments in Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, and Łódź. Together with other Hines officers he is also responsible for growing Hines investment initiatives in Poland. For 5 years directly prior to this, Peter was Managing Director responsible for Iberia and Latin America for Bunge-Climate Change Capital that was one of the world’s leading specialist fund manager and advisors in the low carbon economy.
Peter holds an MA Cantab degree in Engineering and Management Studies from Cambridge University. In 1991, he joined JPMorgan in Corporate Finance where he spent 9 years responsible for client business, mainly in debt capital markets. In the year 2000, Peter became a social entrepreneur to found three successful and high impact NGOs: Technology Trust, New Philanthropy Capital and Catalyst Climate Change Trust.
Peter has published eleven white papers and given over 275 public lectures and conferences on the transition to a low carbon economy.

Skanska’s team, managed by Adam, is responsible for establishing project goals in the area of sustainable development as well as certification of office buildings developed by the Skanska Group along with its residential developments in Poland. Marilena is a Senior Banker with the EBRD, with 17 years of experience working in finance and real estate. She joined the bank in February 2004 in Bucharest, Romania, covering financial institutions and real estate. She is based in London since September 2007, focusing on real estate. She was involved in real estate transactions in several countries, primarily from Central and South East Europe, Russia, and Turkey.
She led debt, equity, quasi-equity and property funds transactions, as well as the bank’s first investment into a green property fund, into bonds issued by property companies, in student housing, and real estate investment trusts. Prior to joining EBRD she was an auditor for Arthur Andersen and Ernst&Young. She has a BSc and MSc in Banking/Capital Markets from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and a Master in Real Estate with Henley Business School in Reading, UK.
